HO Kato HM-5 motor mount for Athearn Blue Box SWITCHERS FREE SHIPPING

I created
a motor mount to allow easy and secure installation of a Kato HM-5 motor into most Athearn "blue box" SWITCHER locomotives (likely any with the smaller Athearn motor that only has two mount holes). I have repowered dozens of locos and once I started making these mounts life was a lot easier. No glue is needed, the motor slides in securely, then mount is screwed into frame using existing holes (screws included). This also allows easy removal of all parts later.
The footprint of this mount is the same as the stock two-hole Athearn motor enabling it to fit any application that uses that motor. All applications for fitting the Kato motor into a switcher frame require the frame to be "milled" with a rotary tool for the longer Kato motor to fit. Also the motor's shafts may need to be shortened (that is what I do because I transfer the flywheels over). These modifications are necessary to place the motor's driveshafts at the same height as the original motor's driveshafts to ensure quiet and reliable operation (a limitation of the motor, not my mount). Kato motors with flywheels pre-installed will require removing one of the flywheels to slide the motor into my mount.
